There was a time, in the days gone by, when wining and dining was simply a way of life. When time stood still, and people were in no hurry at all. When wholesome food and simple service was part of a daily ritual. When people spoke to each other in civil tones, and dressing up was the order of the day. Table cloths, napkins, proper cutlery and crockery and correct glassware was on everybody’s tables .Chivalry ruled the day, and pulling out a chair and holding doors for ladies was just the way it was .Where the music was music, and certainly conducive to listening and for enjoying a quiet spell, with the lady of your love. Love was always in the air, and every occasion was Valentines”, and not on any special day. That was the era of the Victoria Hotel.
Sadly missed by all Bangaloreans, who patronized its leisurely service, and wholesome food. Sadly missed by that civilized society that enjoyed its loving care under the shady trees of its gardens. Terribly missed by the Sunday Mass congregation, who drove or walked there for its all day breakfast, that invariably became brunch and a fellowship with all its patrons.” The Victoria” was anachronistic, and a solid sentinel of its period.
17 years later.. the restaurateur family behind Bangalore’s beloved Victoria Hotel, now proudly present their take on a period sadly missed ,and give you Salvadores which is a dedication to the memory of ” The Victoria”, and to the late Joseph Salvadore Victoria, son of the late Sir Donatus Victoria –both who strived in their lifetimes to ensure the very best quality in food and wine and its service, and of course to walk you down memory lane and through the swirling mists of time.
Located on the site of the former Victoria Hotel, in Bangalore’s prime commercial hub, Salvadores is the place to stop by and get lost in time. Here we endeavour to give you the best value in good food & fine wine, from a menu that covers Mediterranean, Continental, French, Italian and of course Ceylonese You will observe that special care has been awarded in ensuring you get the finest in quality service as well. All this with the sole intent of raising a toast to the memory of Joseph Salvadore Victoria and the Hotel which carried his name.
